Preventive interventions

Rutgers Nisso Groep developed several sex education programmes (see also Sex Education and Development), in which resilience is an important aspect. Examples of specific preventive interventions concerning sexual violence are the board games Girls’ choice & Boys R us, for adolescent boys and girls. Objective of these games is stimulating girls and boys (10-18 yrs) to think about what choices they want to make in love and sex, how they can stand up for themselves, how to behave in social interactions with peers and increase their knowledge about sex. Part of the games is a set of are exercises, like role play and personal questions.

Girls’ Talk is a training programme for low-educated girls in the age of 14-18 years old. The program is aimed to learn girls more about how they care for their own sexual health and wellbeing, also in relationships with boys.

We offer a teachers’ Toolkit for a teaching programme on the prevention of female genital mutilation, for adolescents at high school.
