Sexual equity for all

Likewise, the Netherlands may be a heaven on earth for homosexual people when compared to many other countries, but as Dutch homosexuals man and women can assert, the country is definitely not free from discrimination against those with other than heterosexual orientations. Hate crimes, negative social response, and minority stress are experienced by homosexuals in the Netherlands all too often still. Transgenders are even more invisible still and their position in the Dutch diversity policies is marginal to say the least. Next, the stigma on sex work may be relatively weak in the Netherlands, but still much too many sex workers report evidence of it all the same. The formally legal status of sex work has definitely not yet fully done away with negative treatment by the public or service providing institutions, exploitative working relations, violence by customers, or the multiple criminal behaviour of the ‘old fashioned’ pimp or more ‘modern’ trafficker.
